Just for fun and curiosity.
I screw around with guitar, elect guitar, and piano. Basic basic.
I was a pro playing clarinet and sax in pit bands. I have stage credits for that, I forgot about those shows....it was a blast.
So that's about it. Have a flute hanging around too, but I don't know much of anything on that one.
So yeah. Reed player, or used to be before my teeth got loose.
Age ya know.
Whatcha play?

I can really annoy people with my knock off Strat and Fender amp, especially with the overdrive turned up... Haven't played it in over a year now, the acoustic just sits there as well. One of these days I'll go back to playing them, I can see them out of the corner of my I when I'm on the computer...

I went to music school for 12 years in my youth. Learned 14 different instruments. Played with the rockland youth philharmonic first chair viola , buffalo civic symphony second chair viola and for a short time the New York philharmonic way in the back lol.

Nothing compared to you all, but I did play violin in 4th grade... you know, when pretty much everyone played an instrument of some kind, so it's not that special really.
But, if I got the chance to play any instrument now, I think I'd probably go back to that.

I play guitar, bass, and keyboard.
I currently only have a keyboard. It doesn't really speak to me telling me play me the way a guitar or bass sitting in a corner of a room does.
I actually prefer the bass guitar, I have too small of hands to do some of the guitar chords, and really kind of prefer playing one note at a time anyway. Wish mine wasn't sitting at my parent's house on the East Coast, along with my guitar.

Been thinking about this a lot since I posted above, so I finally decided to splurge a little and bought a cheap Epiphone Les Paul guitar and amp.
Now to cut my nails so I can actually play it...

I can play piano and trombone, and I do a lot of singing. I also know how to play the accordion, but I'm not ready to come out in public as an accordion player...

I played the accordion for a while in middle school, then I started again like 15 years later because of a crisis (I draw a lot but suddenly I stopped and didn't know who I was any more). I love listening to music but realised that I didn't like playing, so I sold my accordion after playing for a year maybe. I like singing though ^^

I thought I remembered this thread, so I had to find it. So I can spam it with instrument stuff. I'm kind of on a loop of looking at all kinds of different instruments... including weird ones you don't hear about, like that hand pan I shared a video of. I like the less common ones like that. Also I found out about Kalimbas too... those sound nice! And super cheap, at like $20 - $30. Hubby wants to play saxopohone when we can afford one because that's what he played in school. (kind of like the same reason I wanted to play violin) Not sure how well that would go with a ukulele though, so someone on here should join me for an instrumental duet whenever I can at least somewhat play my ukulele. Or join him, with something that would go better with a sax. I'm going to be obsessed with instruments for a little while now... I like simple and/or natural sounding ones the best, I think. Stuff made with wood. With the exception of those drums that are steel... and their smaller versions that are cheaper lol. This one you can play around with on their website so you can see what each one sounds like before you buy it. That's pretty fun. steeltonguedrums.com/play-and-buy/I feel like with those, it would be really easy to be able to play stuff that sounds good, even if you don't know what you're doing yet.

Steel drums, they beat them out of steel drums in Jamaica I think? A necessary way of having an instrument. The concept is actually pretty simple, it's just making a dent that can be tuned, and there are patterns that work and can be followed, but getting a good condition steel drum is getting hard. I used to hit stuff all the time to see if it had a nice tone to it, and if it played a note well enough, I just had to find more stuff to play all set around... kid stuff. Guitar, got my strat all ungoobered up with electric contact cleaner, the second time around did the trick, cleaned it up and set the pickups better and it sounds good with the new headphones. So was doing some bluesy kind of stuff, but today for some reason turned into texas boogie blues stuff, hard driving on the lower four strings, in fact I dampened out the first two high ones. Allowed a much more aggressive playing style, had fun, doing some ZZ Top sounding stuff, always good and fun to play like that, pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Ukulele can be played with any kind of music, most anything can. Might have a different sound to it, but that's the fun of music, like Chico Marx playing the Beer Barrel Polka in a classic style, like the father in Sense8 playing the Who song, both can be recognized and it's novel sounding. Always like to hear music or songs from somewhere played like they cam from a different music venue, Rock n Roll came from the more upbeat blues played back in the early fifties, change the chords a bit and there you go. Crossover music is the staple of country western, which is neither country or western, but they take in general the sounds from rock and give it a C&W way of playing it and it becomes a redneck anthem, Ride a Horse and Save a Cowboy, that was so radical at the time that the so called purists of country hated it, until it became popular and then it was copied for a couple years there. Elevator music, there are no elevator music composers, that's just music played like a Kenny G song...

Elevator music, there are no elevator music composers, that's just music played like a Kenny G song... I don't understand the people that hate it when people experiment with music, or make new songs by mashing up two or more different types. Like the people that get so mad about it. That's how different genres were created in the first place, right? Otherwise, we'd all only ever play one type of music, if no one ever tried new things. I'm going to make an effort to not be one of those angry people that hates anything new, when I'm old. lol. Even now, I try not to. Now that I looked, I actually see quite a few people doing a duet with ukulele and saxophone. It actually seems more common than I thought. Anyway, hubby might end up getting a Kalimba for now since they're cheap and he wants to play something with me until we have more money to get him whatever bigger instrument he actually wants to play. My tracking info for my ukulele says it should be here tomorrow. It shipped fast! And we didn't say to require a signature.. no reason to here, and just in case we're asleep and no one is home. But they actually called to make sure we meant to do that before they shipped it out. Never had anywhere do that, before. And it also has a free two year warranty... so that's nice, too. Because I always like to share where I get things in case anyone is ever interested: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LearnToPlayS--kala-learn-to-play-ukulele-starter-kit-mahogany-sopranoI'm excited, and ready for it to be here so I can start messing around with it. Also, look at how pretty it is! Kala is supposed to be a pretty good brand, I guess. They have some that cost over $1,000 which is pretty expensive for a ukulele... probably only custom made ones would be more expensive... (And I watched some videos of their most expensive ones and they do sound really amazing. But even their $500 ones sound amazing, too.) but this particular one is supposed to be a good one to start learning on because it sounds nice but is cheap. lol. Maybe when I learn a song, I'll make a video.... since I can't take a picture of a song like I can with a painting. Ew, me on a video.... I guess I'll have to get used to that though if I ever want to make a youtube channel, which I kind of do eventually... My niche could be being a nonbinary ukulele player.... Yukilele. LOL. I need better sleep.

Not a musician per se, but enjoying jawharp playing for my self from time to time. It's just as simple as a single metal tongue freely moving (actually oscillating) between cheeks of a frame. One plays by firmly pressing frame against their slightly parted teeth, so that instrument's tongue can move in and out not touching them, and by plucking the tongue. So that mouth, throat, and sometimes lungs become resonators for the sound. It's a single pitch instrument with overtones, and the play is actually to shape you mouth, move your tongue, etc. to reconfigure resonating cavity to pick a resonation with specific overtone, so, when playing, player becomes an actual part of this combined instrument. And yes, it's an interesting and amusing feeling too feel music vibration inside yourself.

Odin makes some interesting noises, but usually only when he really wants something... which is rare. He probably wonโt sing with me, and will probably just sleep when I play. Lol
