To me the obvious answer here is that TERFs just fundamentally misunderstand trans women- specifically they misunderstand the fact that THEY ARE NOT MEN. They don't experience "male socialization" or "experience male privilege" they've experienced closeted trans woman socialization and any privilege they may have been afforded for being perceived as male is immediately lost when they start presenting as female. Another TERF misconception- that they will be forced to date trans women. Patently untrue. No one is trying to coerce you into having sex with someone if their genitals don't match your preferences. Literally all trans women (and particularly trans lesbians) want from cis women is to be included in women's and lesbian's spaces because they are, after all, women and lesbians. This transmisogynist garbage is so normalized that sometimes I'll see lesbian acquaintances sharing trans exclusionary articles on Facebook. Like, they have no shame about being openly bigoted. One of my very close friends who happens to be a trans lesbian is terrified of trying to date in the lesbian community because she feels unwelcome and threatened by the possibility of encountering a TERF. Not every feminist is a TERF and not every lesbian is a TERF, but transmisogynistic attitiudes are allowed to flourish, mostly unchallenged, in both communities. Everyone should just read Whipping Girl tbh... What? s a fullblown transwoman I am a bi transwoman. I am ultra feminine. I could care less about feminine or masculine. That does not identify me but I am ultra femme though. I never thought about or even cared about misogynistic. I am feminine and not by choice either. So maybe I am stupid but what exactly is a TERF? Actually I am a trans bisexual woman and I can be in my own world, I don't need to be a transbian for that or even a lesbian. Actually I don't need to be included from anyone cis or trans women. Damn hate men much? I love men. So maybe it is time for me to leave. But I should not be triggered. Maybe my blood should be on this posts. I am a trans woman and I am feminine and love being such. See ya' all later. I will be back when people aren't so pissed off and we can talk through real trans issues. I will check in from time to time until all the anger is abated. Other than that I will live life physically instead of virtually. Love, Jamie.

From a person who used to think she was just a lesbian! Yes absolutely, I’d hope that it was just a minority that didn’t get along, but not because of gender, just personality clashes. It certainly exists though because I know or have known in the past lesbians that have been quite transphobic. I think you have made a good point in terms of a misunderstanding by many lesbians that trans women are NOT ACTUALLY MEN, it certainly was the belief by these lesbians that I knew. I remember trying to discuss this with them and getting quite angered by their comments. Considering at the time, I thought I was JUST A LESBIAN myself and couldn’t understand why my views seemed a lot more mature and correct compared with theirs. In the past, I would have always got along with any trans person and made the extra effort to listen and understand what they go through - it seems almost ironic me saying this now years down the line having realised that I’m not exactly a cis women myself lol. In terms of dating trans women, if you asked me years ago, I’d probably have avoided it (only through lack of understanding) but if you ask me now, Id say of course, if I fancied them why not..That said, I can’t see that anyone would want to date me in the first place lol! It’s interesting though because this journey has made me realise how different sex is to gender. When I fall for someone, I certainly don’t think to myself, oh hang on what sex are they anymore (like I used to), I just go along with my feelings and to be honest, I couldn’t care less if they have a muscular chest or breasts and moustache or lipstick etc - if I fancy them, I fancy whatever is on them too! In terms of gender Identity, whatever that person says they are, that’s what they are to me not what my mind makes up. So would you say I’m a transformed lesbian in terms of my views? We can learn BUT it’s complicated in my case because I wonder whether I feel like this because I was already trans/non binary.

I saw that it was a old thread but thought it was an interesting topic. Also I like old things, they keep me feeling youthful In general had no issues just a few over the years too.

There is nothing wrong with ressurecting old threads here...indeed there is a gold mine of them, and its interesting to comment from new experiences and perspectives.
