I used to not have a (Full) button and wondered why at gatherings I'd always overdo it and feel so stuffed that it was hard to fold in the middle to sit down. Finally it boiled down to the same attitude change that alcoholics at treatment facilities learn about. Now I get grossed out when I see so many morbidly obese people these days, however interestingly enough I've had an attitude adjustment about them too when my former endocrinologist made the discovery that morbidly obese people are missing a hormone called graylin that signals when someone's stomach is about full. Something I learned is that one's stomach is no larger than their fist, but like a prophylactic it can be stretched well beyond where it's intended to go. Usually a single helping on a salad plate for an adult meal is sufficient rather than a heaping full sized dinner plate with toast for sideboards, and if you want to lose weight five tiny meals coupled with good sense about caloric values coupled with an hour at the gym five days a week will work wonders. I get along fine on 1300 calories a day and when I don't exercise I can still gain weight over time due to a very slow metabolism. Hope some of this may be helpful to a few.

OK so not the best idea but I limited myself to 900 calories a day and lost 60 some odd pounds in about 3 months. Some days I wouldn't even eat. Always. I repeat always check with a doctor and have a physical before you start any extreme diet. I wanted to lose weight fast and get sort of slim and didn't care. If I died or it killed me, so what? I don't want 12 paulbearers carrying me. As a matter of fact have me mummified and put me in the Whiskey in a rocking chair. A little morbid but who cares? Eternity in the Whiskey a Go Go? Who could ever ask for more from eternity? Unless rap takes over the LA scene. Nothing wrong with rap but it better be dirty or I will haunt every freaking one e ya's.

I have turned my back on "diet" as a verb. In the past, I've subjected (read: abused) my body to far too many harmful "dieting" practices to give any merit to temporary abstinence or faddish eating habits. IMHO if it's not sustainable, it's not an appropriate diet. Diet is what you eat...for the rest of your life.

dieting the way i see it, is to be mindful of what you eat, and make sure your diet is healthy. a healthy diet for me, is one without much carbohydrate. i've gotten to this point where sweets taste horribly sweet, and i'm never really hungry. seems to work just fine.
next thing is to get some good workout in my schedule. will go for strength rather than cardio. can't run on a threadmill, the steady pace freaks me out. and when spring just comes, i'll start running in the mountains here. make sure to remind me.

Kind of how I go about it too, makes more sense and is balanced.

So far I have turned to more healthy approach to what I eat - the issue still is with calories, because I really really want to drop some weight. But I also have eating disorder as some sort of reaction towards stress, which we have a lot at work. I do exercise, but so far it has only helped me to stay where I am and not gain anything... I guess I am just not strong enough to eat less .

one of the more effective cures against anxiety and depression, is a healthy diet. lots of people suffer from depression quite unnecessarily, and can be cured by a little bit of vitamin d (that's a hormone btw). omega-3 fatty acids make up 1/3 of the brain's volume. eat too little fish, and your brain will shrink. this also causes depression. caffeine makes anxiety worse. it's a stimulant after all. heavy fluctuations in blood sugar levels also add to anxiety, and depression. stay away from sugar if you don't want your moods to kill you... wheat can cause stomach troubles. it also lacks nutrients, so it's one of the most useless "foods" we eat.
herbal tea, raw vegetables of all sorts, fish, and maybe some berries (no sugar added), would be a good cure for most ailments.
