What do you think of the way that things are being interpreted in the church? why did Jesus speak in parables, instead of preaching on old testament laws etc.
He said He fullfills the law, that it would be written upon our hearts.
Says we will be ingrafted into him, He is the vine we the branches, which means our saplife, our lifeforce, our everything, food, water, sustenance, vibrance, motivations, are drawn from Him, His stregnth.
I feel damaged and was sick this morning, violently, physically, as a result of enjoying a great sermon that then went sour for me when the quoted 1 Corr 10 6 and misquoted the term for the temple male prostitutes as effeminite. And the next word, homosexual offender, I would dearly love to know the Greek source for, what the word truly means. And Paul follows by saying that those following him used to be one of the groups that he had named. But what does that mean?
If prostitution is condemned, well, of course. If it is the bonding of two genders that are not binary opposites, then is that the case here? I have a big time problem now with both Paul and the scriptures. And the rigidity in those teachings ie I shall not permit a woman to teach in church or a woman that prays with her head uncovered is shameful..... how can i believe then that these other scripture apply?
Yet we have the incredible strength of Paul represented, what he did, where he went, what it cost him. And we know he had fights with Peter, that there were issues of interpretation, that there were many bringing the teachings of Christ into bondage.
Its a mess, really. I would argue that throughout the scriptures, Jesus wants us to see with His eyes, with Spiritual eyes, eyes with no scales over them, eyes that see. Not eyes that are closed.
That which is spiritually discerned. Discerned by the soul, deep in side. So we can hear with His ears.
What does He hear? He hears us crying, he hears our pain, feels it. He hears the people taking the money from people to build massive churches and entertainment centers that entice the flesh and the heart of man, instead of putting food into suffering mouths, crying out. And He hears those who gave everything to Christ, who truly represent Him, in the pulpits, speaking truth, helping others, people that really do get it.
This is why I did that campfire thread. I want to hear Jesus. Not someone disecting scripture, and applying or worse misapplying it.
It is frightening, what happened to His teaching. I think Paul was on target, I also think he is dead wrong on homosexuality when its not orgies or the real low level stuff, the stuff bordering on porn, liscensious. I think that the social context is important. Yet the conservative church rejects much of this as an excuse to twist the scriptures to our own desires. Which is exactly what the enemy of our souls did, and he had the balls to even try it on Christ Himself. I am taught that the scripture is infallible, but how are we to interpret it? Rigidly? Legalistically, down to hidden meanings?
Or With eyes that see and ears that hear?
By their fruit you shall know them. The fruit of that sermon for me, was not deliverence, as the preacher held up a lesbian woman as the prime example of what God can do, having cured her of all of her lesbianism. Did it really? Or was she straight or bi to begin with and is she ignoring that component? I wont read that book she wrote I am already damaged enough having tried to be the churches normal male for 55 years and having that break me in two.
The fruit of that is lifetime damage and torture. Jesus did not torture anyone. He invited them to supper instead.
But He sure tore into the legalists of His day, did He not? Calling them blind, sons of hell. Sons of the devil.
So, my dears, what do we do with the anti gay scriptures, the anti trans? I see Jesus speaking of Eunichs, I see Him in many places speaking of how we are born to glorify God. And there is that sodom and Gamorrah line, where they will be treated better that those in capernicus, because they would have accepted Him, and those He was preaching to, rejected Him.
New wine in new wineskins. Old wineskins breaking. And the Sodom thing, come on, thats orgies and rape and all manor of sexual abuse. Not a one on one loving relationship between similar genders. I would think, based on the fruit of it, that His heart, is to end the loneliness, let the people unite with a loving spouse and pledge themselves to them, expect the same of those born straight.
And the straights aint doing so hot in the nighclubs and strip joints, are they.
Eyes to see ears to hear.
Thoughts, especially concerning the canon of scriture, interpretation of it, and what Jesus is really saying. At the end of the day, for me, I mostly want His words and His heart, not how someone else interpreted that. I want how He interpreted what He said, Himself. And the only way I know to do this, is to find the heart of God, sit at His feet, dine with Him, and commune with Him through prayer and meditation.
We fall back on human understanding as we dissect the scriptures. Human understanding of human understanding, penned by the Holy Spirit of God in control of the writers heart and mind. I think Jesus needs us to see with Gods understanding, the one that put Him on the cross, to give us a ticket off this fallen world imprisoned by the enemy of our souls, setting us free from condemnation and into the forgiveness of sin, the destruction of karma if you will, and out of that forgiveness for the sins that bind, the ones that bear bad fruit, because we recognize the immense love He has for us to endure the cross, it binds us to extend His hand. Not to bind others, but to serve them, help them, feed them, enrich their lives.
To love every single one of them, like He did. And does.
Thoughts dear ones of God?

I found this video on some of your questions. There are others on the same page by this very wise scholor on Sodom and gamora and other troubling passages about homosexuality and trans in the bible. Its very good. 1st Corinthians DOES NOT condemn homosexuality...: youtu.be/kgMAk2CDO5s

What do you think of the way that things are being interpreted in the church? why did Jesus speak in parables, instead of preaching on old testament laws etc. Because a picture is worth a thousand words the meaning of which is clear in spite of a disparity and change in spoken and written languages. He said He fullfills the law, that it would be written upon our hearts. The commandments are perfect but no man has ever kept them perfectly. Failure under the law required a death in recompense, Ezekiel 18:20 "The soul that sins shall die!" 2 Cor 5:21-25 "For our sake he (God)made him (Jesus) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Paul discusses this conflict between the flesh and the spirit in Romans 7:21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. 22 For I delight in the law of God, in my inmost self, 23 but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin which dwells in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I of myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. So then, I of myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.
As for the often skewed interpretations of what is plainly stated by those with some other agenda, I would pay them no attention. Malachite and I have been discussing how perverted some doctrines have become i.e.. Dispensationalism is one of the biggest heresies in the modern Christian church today.

I really don't know what to say. But I will ask what do you feel in your heart? Forget the books and texts but look into your heart. That is where the answers are. People interpret ancient writing in so many different ways. To me the Bible should be used as inspiration and not set in stone laws. Well maybe the 10 Commandments because they are just guidelines to being a good person. We have evolved since the texts were written. God has evolved from Genesis and the old testament into the Life of Christ, and the new testament and beyond. God hasn't changed but rather our perceptions of God has changed from a vengeful, spiteful and super strict God from the old testament that would destroy humanity in a heart beat. In the new testament all we have to do is ask for forgiveness. That was a couple of thousand years ago and you see how god changed in our perceptions through out the Bible. God never changed, we did. Our perceptions of God changed. We know natural disasters aren't caused by God's vengeful despise of the human race. It is just natural occurrences by inhabiting a physical body on a living physical planet. OK so I'm more Gnostic than Christian when a lot of Christians deny the Gnostic books but the Gnostics were so much closer to Christ's time than the other religions. But to me dear Trinity, the answers are not in a book, not in a speech, not anywhere outside but rather in your own heart. And when it comes to Gnostic teachings the search for God comes from within one's own self and never from an external source. SO listen to that little voice that whispers inside you. God don't have to yell. Look into yourself for the answers that you seek. We all have different questions so no answer is the same for everyone but the answer you find will be specific and Divine to you. As for the Bible I think a lot is lost in translation. If you could actually read and understand the ancient texts in Greek and Hebrew it may make a lot more sense. I mean there is supposedly a code in those original words if we could learn how to use it before hand instead of later. That code does not exist in the King James version. But remember the King James version was translated in the 1500's when corruption was just as bad if not worst than it is today. Just something to keep in mind. There is a lot of mystery surrounding the whole of human Spirituality and no one person has the answers. Yeah I know I will probably get trashed. But I will say that the Bible in its original form, the other Gospels that were left out in the translations and a hole bunch of other things are way more complicated than we can ever imagine. Much like God. God is so complicated that it will take an eternity to even be able to comprehend who God is. If we ever do. OK so everyone can call me crazy now but I don't believe we know even a trillionth if that much of The Mind of God. I don't think we can even come as close to that of understanding all of God's Divine Creations. To me God is not a He or She but the One. The Divine Singularity that we all aspire to reunite with but with separate Unique Devine Entities our selves. OK so maybe I am a little crazy so give me all you got.

I really don't know what to say. But I will ask what do you feel in your heart? Forget the books and texts but look into your heart. That is where the answers are. Not really, Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately corrupt, who can understand it?" People interpret ancient writing in so many different ways. To me the Bible should be used as inspiration and not set in stone laws. Well maybe the 10 Commandments because they are just guidelines to being a good person. Not possible, as Roman's 3:10 says "None are righteous, no not one!" The entire old testament is really a testimony of what screw-ups all human beings are, the ten commandments are a yardstick whereby we can measure ourselves and see how we all fall short as the scriptures clearly point out "All have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God" Rom 3:23 When God's requirement is that "You then must be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matt 5:48 We have evolved since the texts were written. We have definitely evolved in our ability to do evil much more efficiently and effectively than back in the day when Cain murdered his brother Able.OK so maybe I am a little crazy so give me all you got. Let me suggest that if you are unsure of what to say especially when it comes to Judeo-Christian scriptural beliefs, since this is a Christian thread, that you might refrain from responding rather then offering up some humanistic ideas that don't hold up to scripture. This is why I dislike getting into religious discussions because someone always comes away with hurt feelings and that is not my intent here Jamie. Trinity has questions and there are right and true answers for them. Meanwhile I refuse to compromise on what I know is true and look the other way just for the sake of letting someone else feel good as they make up a response that doesn't meet God's criteria for mankind according to the bible.

We are all mature in our faith, so there is no hostility or fight to have here concerning Gnostic and our form of faith. Jamie your thoughts are appreciated but not relevant to the discussion as we are handling it based on biblical references as we understand them. The points on language are spot on and appreciated. And I do not read Greek.
The need I am seeking to fill is where it is based on biblical analysis and an accurate representation of Christ as per His eyewitnesses and buddies.
My concern is to get it right, as deliberate sin is big time trouble, even though Grace is right there and so is repentance.
I have no defense biblically if scriptures are misused and I don't understand what is correct and what is not on spinning the gay doctrines. Mistranslation and misrepresentation are seriously bad.
I find nothing that condemns trans, but the lesbian gay stuff eats me for lunch. I can biblically hang my hat on DES, but what about those who cannot.
So I want clear biblical answers.
As to the heart, if it is the witness of the Holy Ghost that's important. If it's flesh and the desperate human nature to rationalize and justify, that's another.
A debate or revelation based on sound biblical understanding would be much appreciated. The witness drives me to seek truth. Jesus said a lot, and I wanna know His heart on this. So I reach out. Satinjoy got mauled Sunday, I got suicidal over this issue.
I have to fight that one with biblical truth, nothing else will work.
Mark I'll check your link as soon as I can, maybe tomorrow morning.
Not offended, but let's keep this one based on recognized rules. No pastor would listen to a secular rebuttal.
No offense Jamie. And point taken on the language.
There isn't anywhere else I can go but here for straight answers. It's not about church. It's about recorded truth.

Meanwhile I refuse to compromise on what I know is true and look the other way just for the sake of letting someone else feel good as they make up a response that doesn't meet God's criteria for mankind according to the bible. OK so I will stay out of the Christianity forums from now on. Sorry to insult anyone. I follow Christ's teachings but apparently not good enough to be Christian. No hurt feelings from me but a big reminder of why I can't ever belong to a mainstream Christian organization. But what I get from the Gnostic writings is not humanistic. Metaphysical maybe. The mystical side of Christianity maybe. But I got the hint. So fare the well. I hope you all find what you're looking for. I just will say it won't ever come from a book or an outside organization. I found what I was looking for and that was answers for myself. Everyone is different. I love you all and wish you good luck in finding whatever you are looking for answer wise or eternity. So this will be the very last time I will be in the Christianity thread. I never belonged anyway. But Christ didn't either. He went against the common teachings of the time. Besides Shan. I ain't so unsure of what to say. So you gave me all you got so I won't be back here in this section. Someone that follows the teachings of Christ but can't be considered Christian. Hmm. The dynamics of religion is really interesting. You call what I believe humanism. No hon. It has nothing to do with the human race. The heart is deceitful only if the mind is mired down in materialism. BTW who is Jeramiah and who authored the texts? Who translated the texts? So from now on even though I am a believer in Christ I can see I can't be a Christian. But I have been dealing with so many that know so much more about Christianity that me. Even though I know Christ represents the Age of Pisces, Moses the Age of Taurus, Abraham the Age of Aries. So really no hurt feelings. I'm use to it after a lifetime of thinking differently. I don't know how it can't be relevant Trinity. You asked and I answered. It may not be right or wrong but taking the Lord's name if vain isn't just about the GD word but claiming to follow in order to look good to your peers, community or even yourself. He said He fullfills the law, that it would be written upon our hearts.
A quote from you and exactly where I told you where the answer lies. I can't give you or anyone else the answers you seek and no it isn't "Humanism" and it is a lot older than the King James version or the texts. But your words exactly and exaclty where I told you to look. Hmm interesting how Crhistians can turn on one another even though they believe in differnt perceptions. But no more will I come to this section. Again I really hope you all find what you are looking for.

Ok there you go Jamie, not the kind of reaction we wanted, no-one wanted to trample your feelings here. All we're saying is that the words in the book are like the letter to Hebrews says, "They are living and active, sharper than a two edged sword, piercing to the division of joint and marrow, soul and spirit and is discerning of the heart!" Meaning that we aren't to discount biblical scripture as something we can discard as old hat. You are always welcome here just as anyone is, but scripture is foundational to the conversation and not feelings which can be deceptive.

Meaning that we aren't to discount biblical scripture as something we can discard as old hat. You are always welcome here just as anyone is, but scripture is foundational to the conversation and not feelings which can be deceptive. No one trampled my feelings hon. I am extremely secure in my beliefs. I am extremely secure in the answer I gave Trinity. I mean the exact quote from her and the answer I gave her was totally in sync with Christ's own words. Again from Trinity: He said He fullfills the law, that it would be written upon our hearts.
Again my answer I gave: But I will ask what do you feel in your heart? Forget the books and texts but look into your heart.
Is that not close enough? No I don't follow the bible but is there one of us that does word for word, law for law. I do follow Christ's teachings. I am so sorry because I don't believe he was God incarnated. I do believe he is God's direct Child and we are indirectly God's Children. But I have read the Bible and the other Gospels that were left out and a whole lot of historical documents, other beliefs and so on. Yeah in the Age of Pisces the bible is relevant and this is the legacy of Christ and has been for two thousand + years. I love you Shan but just remember that there is no one holier than thou. Just like there is no one Trannier than thou. We have all lived different lives and me being trans is just as important as my own Spirituality. I have no answers. I don't claim to know the answers. I am not vain in the name of Christ or God. I don't know them or their minds. I am a sinner. I will probably go to hell because I am not worthy or paradise if there is a heaven or hell. All I know is that I'm not worthy and anyone that thinks they are maybe need to rethink their lives. I have begged for forgiveness for my shortcomings and I expect to pay for them even though I am forgiven according to Christ and the New Testement. But I'm still not worthy and probably never will be. I will pay the price. Sweety I am a little vain about my looks but I am not vain about my Spirituality. I'm not perfect and will never ever claim to be. Heaven has no place for me. So I have nothing to lose. If Hell awaits at least I can say that I searched in earnest regardless of anyone else's beliefs or doctrines. So if I am damned at least I searched to the best of my abilities for the Truth. Oh Shan. I'm not mad at you or Trinity. But if the Laws are written in our hearts, how can it be wrong to look into your heart for the answer? Now my friend I bow out of this discussion. If you want to continue it further PM me and I will talk about it more. But I feel not so invited here anymore. I am secure in my Spirituality but kind of uncomfortable now here in the Christianity Section since I'm not Christian by the book. No hard feelings. I am not angry. I'm not hurt but apparently my answers aren't welcome here so I won't be here anymore. If you answer here then don't waste your time. This is the last time. Besides hon, I'm used to it by now. For some reason Christians seem to not care for me too much because most don't seem to understand what I say.

This didn't go well.
Sorry Jamie.
The reaction had to do with discounting what's written biblically, in favor of heart feelings.
They have to be in sinc.
My word choices and frustration screwed up my responses.
Of course you are welcome.
Crap we have the same background to some extent.
I have a headache.
Yes your feelings got hurt and I own some of that.
Sorry. I am frustrated with...spin...
Wanted bare factual stuff from.scriptures to fight it.

No Hon. My feelings don't get hurt. So don't apologize. I actually thought the first part I said was from scripture. Yeah we do share a little of the same background because my mom was hard core Pentecostal. I have seen so much stuff. I got out as soon as I could. Dear Trinity. I know there is no one that will believe this coming from me. I mean what do I know? I have no diplomas. I have no ordination from a church. But there is no bare factual stuff you can get from the Scriptures. It is inspirational. Two people can use that inspiration totally different. It isn't a one size fits all thing. Like you said Christ spoke in parables for the simple fact that there are no words that can describe what he was talking about that we could understand.. I don't want to really talk about it anymore because no matter what I say my Spiritual validity will be questioned or dismissed. No I can't quote scripture word for word but neither did Christ. No I am in no way comparing myself to Christ but it is something you should feel more than read or hear from another person. To your original question and what I have learned through history, astronomy, psychology, sociology and spirituality. Christ's teachings replaced the Old Testament laws. I will stand and die for what I say and that is God has never changed. Just our perceptions of God through the minds of man has changed. Yeshua or Jesus brought about a different view of Our God. And Jesus was a teacher and teachers come when the astronomical ages come. Symbology throughout the bible will back this up. During the days of Abraham or Isreal we were in the age of Aries. You know the ram. What did the people do during those days. Burnt offerings of sheep right. During the days of Moses we were in the age of Taurus or the bull. When Moses came down form Mount Sinai, what did the people build? A golden calf to worship. If you can have an open mind astronomy will back this up. But you have to go against the main teaching of mankind only being 5,000 years old. Jesus is the representation of the Age of Pisces or the fish and that is the age we are in now. You know you see the image of the fish on cars with Jesus written in the middle. This is actual astronomical science and not astrology. God is and has and always will be the One that we are working toward to get back to. God and the mind of God is way more complicated than we can ever imagine. Even during tragedies like the Holocaust he never abandoned us Spiritually. This body is of the earth. Our Spirits are the Divine Creation. We die. Sometimes we die horrible deaths. I can account for this through paranormal investigations and research. But the day we are physically born we are on our way to physical death. The only question is will it be one second or stillborn or 100 years? It don't matter because the body is a physical vessel for the Soul which is the experiences of our Spirit and the Sprit is God's Divine Creation and eternal. Really though Hon. Don;t apologize. You asked a question and I tired to answer it to the best of my knowledge. I am not gonna say anymore on this section after this. I answered Shan twice and now you. No hurt feelings from me. Believe me I am so used to Crhistian and Christianity dismi ssing me as a fool or idiot even though I use all tools at hand like the bible, history, the forgotten gospels that didn't make it into an already long book and many other different religions. If ever you do want to ask me a question that don't floolow any church doctrins or anything else just PM me. But right now I am singning off in this section forever.

I do follow Christ's teachings. I am so sorry because I don't believe he was God incarnated. Well hon, His incarnation is the cornerstone of what Christianity is all about. If He ws not God incarnate I wouldn't waste my time with it. I love you Shan but just remember that there is no one holier than thou. Not really, I tend to be a violent foul mouthed asshole and it's the exact reason I need Christ's forgiveness and the only reason I try to be a decent person anymore out of thanks for what he did for me by his taking my beating and the cross. Were that not true I have a few scores to settle and I'd be busy doing that instead of writing this response. I understand what you're saying perfectly, you're saying that you want to believe on your own terms but God expects us to believe on His terms. I'll PM you and of course you are welcomed here, I've just been relating what the scriptures say, you can hate the message but believe me when I say that it doesn't come from me so don't hate the messenger for bringing you the news.

There are no rules here Jamie and we want you in the conversation, just make it a point of saying this is what I believe and it comes from Gnosticism, I know all about the first century Gnostics, they were regarded as a bit heretical by some, but we're not going to treat you like that here because you are a valuable family member and we all care for you, just say "As a gnostic I believe thus and so" and we will respect it! I think it helps everyone to know where the other person is coming from is all, it helps to understand your frame of reference if you're not sticking to straight scriptural guidelines.
