OK the thing about dreams is that they can be extremely useful in day to day life. At night when you fall into the deeper levels of sleep the subconscious mind takes over. Most of the time the subconscious mind just processes all the day to day BS that the conscious mind encounters. But... Sometimes dreams can and do have true meanings. In the subconsciious mind it is all going to be symbolism. Like death means a change in life either for the good or better and not actual death. A house will usually mean something to do with the body. Snakes have a deep Spiritual meaning. Water is about how you are feeling inside, rough water or stormy water symbolises and internal feeling of chaos or indecisiveness and calm water usually means that you are at some sort of peace internally. Usually the dreams that are vivid hold specific meanings to them. The very best thing that you can do is keep a notebook by your bed and if you wake up after the dream with memories from the dream fresh in your mind write down everything you can. You can alos buy a book by Carl Jung about dream interpretations and it is really interesting the psychological and subconscious symbolisms of dreams. Dreams can also point to something wrong in the body that you conscious mind isn't even aware of. Dreams can also be premonitions. Sometimes you remember them and sometimes not, but the ones that are really vivid and seem to have a message then pay attention.
BTW some medications can make you dream more vividly and remember them better. Antidepressants are one medication that is really infamous for vivid dreams.
A little background on dreams is that dreams in the subconscious mind happen in 90 minute cycles. The 90 minute cycles never stop even when we are awake. When we are awake, the conscious mind is in control so the subconscious is running in the background, therefore why you have daydreams while you are a wake or creative spikes. Sleep deprivation will allow the subconscious mind a little more freedom. I know because driving for long hours which is against the law but always never pushed it too far and never fell asleep behind the wheel, but after a while especially during the hours or 1 am to 5 am was pretty intense. Then it would seem like I would see things about to run out on the road in front of me. Sort of like mild hallucinations. anyone that knows any older truck drivers, ask them about the "Little Green Men" pushing the load all day and all night. It is a phenomonon and the movie Black Dog was based off of it for anyne that has seen the movie. I've never heard of drivers seeing Black dogs but have heard the little jokes about Little Green Men.
But anyone interested in dreams and dream interpretations, buy the book about dreams by Carl Jung and keep a notebook by your bed and after a while you will see patterns emerge from your most vivid dreams pertaining to certain situations in your life. Most though are just everyday BS in the conscious mind being filtered by the subconscious mind by what is important and what isn't.
I hope this don't sound too crazy but to me it's definately interesting.

Some of my dreams aren't worth remembering about past history events and conversations with corpses from long ago, this is the stuff that could stop a person's heart.

Jamie
I think dreams are a means that the sub conscious has to process issues. Sometimes a little weird. For example last night I dreamt that I was crossing from the U.S. to Canada by ferry and was having trouble with my immigration form. Kept writing my preferred name and being challenged by an official with my passport which still had my birth name. Apparently I was participating in some sort of bike ride and wasn't sure that I would be fit enough to compete. In the end I missed my ferry so quickly bought a plane ticket and followed a friend onto the wrong air craft and inadvertently headed for another city ..... Jung would have had a field day with this dream.
Not a zombie in sight!
Safe travels

Star, that's strange that you would say that! I had the most realistic dream that I was sitting in a squatting position on a steep roof several stories up in a Bavarian village and suddenly stood and launched myself, arms outspread and flew, it was so realistic! Since then I've had dreams that I can step ahead in a certain manner and elevate into a flying mode. I've had other dreams where I awoke laughing and had no idea what it was about.

I've had dreams where I was involved in a torrid love affair and when things are really smoking hot I wake up for some reason, go pee all groggy and come back to bed and try as I wish I cannot resume that dream from where I left off.

I seldom remember them.? When I do, they affect me for a few days after, popping in and out of my head during the day.
Bits and pieces sometimes.. My feet hanging off the end of my bed. The smell of an old baseball glove.. The eyes of a girl from high school.. My black lab Ginger(RIP) kissing my face waking me up in the mornings.. The shine of the turquoise seats of my first car.
Weird little bits of my life, I remember them. Just not whole dreams.?

Jung would have had a field day with this dream. Not a zombie in sight! Safe travels Aisla Weird isn't the word for dreams Aisla. But the thing about them is that we understand them on a subconscious level. A lot of times your subconscious holds the answer but it all comes out in symbolism. For an example I dreamt one time I was at a truckstop in BF Mississippi. I rented a motel room at this truckstop. It was an actual truckstop because I had stopped there many times. But I rented the room and around 4 PM there was a knock on the door. It was the Grim Reaper, you know Death, asking me for directions. He was lost. I gave the Reaper directions and noticed that he was driving an old '72 Chevy pickup, white like the one my dad had from my childhood. The pickup was just junk stored in the subconscious. Death however wasn't. Death was me asking myself what I should do because I was actually thinking of leasing my truck to another company. Death was the change. I knew which way to go and changed jobs and made a lot of money hauling specialized freight. With this one particular company there was no pushing the limits of the law. Plenty of time to get from point a to point b. With this particular company I made enough money to only have to work 2/3 of the year and still make really good money and pay my truck off1 1/2 years early. You think weird. But it all came down to something being on my mind that my conscious couldn't handle but my subconscious had all the answers. It wasn't until after I made the move that I remembered the dream vividly. But the morning when I woke up when I had the dream I had fleeting memories and made a decision to change leases with a certainty that it would be a better deal. I went from pulling loads from 40-44,000 pounds to in 5 years never having a load that was over 15,000 pounds. The less wear and tear on the truck made me get over 1.75 million miles on it without any kind of overhaul on the engine. That dream helped me make the right decision. Or at least make the decision with confidence.

The last dream I had (that I can remember) was being at someone's house with my friend Lisa, but my ex from 2002 was there, and I was trying to avoid her. I've been pretty mad at her for years. Then I'm standing behind a counter where I see her come in through a door, and I actually make myself visible. Then I'm lying down in a bed and she comes over and starts kissing me passionately. She stops, smiles, and says, "feel better, chica". She acknowledged me as a woman. It was the weirdest thing.
